Are you struggling to get out of bed in the morning? Or having trouble sleeping at night because you can’t turn off your brain? Have you tried everything to improve your relationship, but nothing seems to work? Have you lost joy?

You’re not alone. Help is within reach.

For over 20 years, I’ve been helping clients with these issues and more.

I use evidence-based strategies to help my clients identify and create the changes they want to see in their lives. Our therapeutic collaboration is the springboard you need to break free from the old patterns and habits that are holding you back. We’ll lean into some challenging emotions, finding plenty of humor and joy along the way.

Individual Therapy

One-on-one therapy is an effective way to address a variety of mental health concerns. Some of the most common counseling issues I treat include:

  • Excessive worry

  • Lack of motivation

  • Persistent sadness

  • Sleep problems

  • Stress management

  • Individual Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • Addiction (including drug or alcohol addiction, internet addiction, media addiction, and compulsive sexual behavior)

  • LGBTQI issues

  • Career concerns (particular expertise with academicians and physicians)

  • Academic concerns (adult ADHD, law school, medical school, graduate program and doctoral dissertation stress)

Intimate Relationship/Couples Counseling

Most intimate relationships will struggle at some point. Whether you and your partner(s) are currently at a crossroads, or you just want to make sure you’re staying on track, counseling can help you build a stronger relationship foundation. My approach, which includes behavioral interventions and communication skills training, can help you build (or rebuild) a healthier relationship. Some common concerns that can be addressed in Intimate Partner Counseling include:

  • Communication problems

  • Emotional distance

  • Violations of trust

  • Intimacy issues

  • Parenting challenges

  • Discernment Counseling

I provide sex-positive counseling that is inclusive and affirming of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and consensual relationship structures. Please note that Intimate Partner/Couples Counseling typically isn’t covered by health insurance. Please check your insurance plan’s benefits for more information.

Divorce Coaching Services

Divorce is never easy, but when a marriage has been marred by coercive control, emotional abuse, or interpersonal violence, the ensuing divorce can be devastating, both for you and your children. Whether you’re already mired in a high-conflict divorce, or you fear ending the marriage because of the legal mess that lies ahead, getting the right support is crucial.

Telehealth

At this time, all therapy appointments are conducted using a HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing platform. It is similar to Zoom or FaceTime, but it keeps your protected health information private. Current research has found that therapy via telehealth is similar in efficacy to in-person appointments for most clients.

I am licensed in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (license number C004409), and in the State of Utah by the Utah Division of Occupation and Professional Licensing (license number 11015346-3501).
